USDA resumes biomass subsidy for 2017

Subsidies of $1.5mn are available to US farmers and foresters that harvest biomass for renewable energy through the Biomass Crop Assistance Programme (BCAP) in the 2017 financial year, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) has announced. Foresters and farmers seeking funding to remove biomass residues from fields or national forests for energy generation can apply during 9 January to 15 March. The funds will be provided in the form of retrieval payments, provided at match of $1 for $1, up to $20/t.
