EWATA adjusts charges in W. African ports

The Europe West Africa Trade Agreement (EWATA) has made several changes to its congestion surcharges in force at West African ports. The move reflects a general deterioration in cargo-handling productivity in the region and lengthening waiting times for ships getting access to berths. Some of the main problems are being encountered in the port of Luanda, where a combination of high cargo volumes and poor infrastructure has resulted in an almost gridlock situation arising.
