US Zn: Premiums and freight move higher

US zinc premiums moved higher for the week as freight rates increased and stock totals dropped. Argus assessed US special high-grade (SHG) zinc premiums at 8-9.5￠/lb, ticking up from last week's 8-9￠/lb. Spreads may continue to rise in the coming weeks on higher freight and a tighter supply of zinc. Several dealers were already offering premiums at 10￠/lb this week but consumers were not buying in yet.
