China's 1H cobalt metal imports rise, exports drop

China's imports of cobalt metal increased significantly in the first half of 2021 on buoyant demand from the domestic market, while exports declined on weak demand from the overseas markets, resulting in record high net imports of 4,336t. The country imported 4,605t of cobalt metal during January-June, up by 177pc from a year earlier, with the average import price increasing by 18pc from a year ago to $36.70/kg, according to customs data.
