ELECTRIC-ARC CLEANING OF OPTICAL-FIBER ENDFACES

The cleaning action of the cleaning are of two optical-fiber fusion-splicing devices is investigated. Interferometric analysis of the optical-fiber endfaces before and after exposure to the cleaning arcs reveals damage to the endfaces caused by one of the devices.
