China adjusts pig slaughter rules as ASF outbreaks reach 100

China's agriculture ministry has laid down strict new rules for slaughterhouses after confirming the country's 100th case of African swine fever (ASF). Tumendemberel Dorjnyam, chair of the Mongolian Veterinary Authority (MVA), said the country culledalmost 500 pigs. The MVA said direct culling and disinfection is the preferred method of eradicating ASF, while farmers are not currently being compensated.Subsequently, the Mongolian State Emergency Committee has issued a resolution to temporarily ban pork imports from countries such as China, Russia, Germany and Poland. China and Poland account for approximately 90% of the total imported pork in Mongolia.
