Speaking at the World Petroleum Congress in Istanbul on July 10, Qatar's Minister of Energy and Industry Mohammed al-Sada defied the governments—Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Bahrain—that have imposed sanctions on his country. "Despite the illegal siege currendy enforced on Qatar," he said, the country "has never failed a single shipment and has not compromised its longstanding image of being a reliable supplier of energy to all corners of the world." He added that Qatar's "total exports in trade to Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bahrain account for less than 8%" of its international trade. "So any short-term efforts will not have a wide impact."
