Postthrombotic syndrome

Postthrombotic syndrome is a chronic but preventable condition that leads to limb pain, swelling, skin discolouration and ulceration, and rash after deep vein thrombosis (DVT) (Figure 1). These signs and symptoms are seen at 10 years' follow-up in up to 56% of patients who have had DVT.
