Imaging in adult congenital heart disease

The prevalence of adults with congenital heart disease is increasing in France due to significant advances in surgery and catheterization. The management of these individuals requires specialized training, requiring both the basic concepts of congenital heart disease plus those for surgical residual disease of childhood and acquired or ageing lesions. Imaging of congenital heart disease should be therefore follow a 'multimodality'approach. Magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and echocardiography do not compete, but complement each other in terms of the anatomical and functional information each provides. Imaging is a crucial step that complements the clinical evaluation, usually allowing prognostic classification and guiding the complex management of these patients.
