Ferrous scrap prices rise in central Mexico but stable in the north

Ferrous scrap prices in Mexico's domestic market were on split paths in the week ended Friday November 13, soaring in the central Bajío region but stable in the country's north, amid strong steel demand. At least two steelmakers in the Bajío region were heard increasing prices, with customers competing to secure supply of the steelmaking raw material. Fastmarkets assessed the steel scrap No1 heavy melt, consumer buying price, delivered mill Bajío at 6,800 pesos ($332) per tonne on November 17, up by 250 pesos from 6,550 pesos per tonne a week earlier.
