Archeological Testing at the Granite Street Development Project. Task 2: Shea Block and Cavanaugh Brothers Stable, 50 and 58 West Central Street

Archeological investigations were conducted in the cellars of the Shea Block and Cavanaugh Brothers Stable at 50 and 58 West Central Street respectively. Following removal of the concrete slab in the Shea Block, three test pits were excavated to reveal fill sequences and stone foundation footings similar to the nearby Thorpe Building, reported upon earlier. In the Cavanaugh Stable, a more extensive area of the original stable floor was revealed beneath the later concrete slab. No unexpected, or especially significant resources were located during the testing.
