The effect of number of eggs retrieved on pregnancy, outcomes in our assisted reproduction program

To determine if women with less than 5 eggs retrieved do as well as women with more eggs retrieved in terms of pregnancy outcomes in our assisted reproduction program. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective analysis of women with less than five eggs retrieved during treatment with in vitro fertilization (IVF) at RPAH.STVF Fertility Unit in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, University of Sydney, Australia between January 1999 and June 2002. 205 women with less than 5 oocytes retrieved were compared with 140 women with 5-15 oocytes collected at ovum pick-up. The 5-15 oocyte group was sub-divided to 5-10 and 11-15 groups.
