Don't forget the intra-cardiac abscess!

Intra-cardiac abscesses are rare, may be difficult to diagnose and are associated with high morbidity and mortality. We report a case of an intra-cardiac abscess in a woman who had a prosthetic aortic valve replacement 10 years before. This is not an unusual clinical scenario, except that this abscess was not detected, culture was positive for methicil-lin resistant staphlococcus aureus (MRSA), and the consequences were fatal.
