Japan: T.Rad to boost production of EGR coolers

JAPANESE component manufacturer T.Rad Corporation plans to increase domestic and foreign production of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) coolers, a type of heat exchanger designed to reduce the amount of nitrogen oxide in gas emissions from diesel engines. The company will invest some ￥1bn to install production equipment at its Thai plant in early 2008 to make EGR coolers for supplying Toyota and other OEMs. It will also invest around ￥1bn to install a special production line at its plant in the Czech Republic. That line will supply EGR coolers to Toyota's engine factory in Poland and to several other European OEMs. T.Rad's plant in Italy that currently makes EGR coolers will be converted to producing heat exchangers for construction equipment.
