A coalition of trade unions, including Unite, is planning a national day of industrial action on 30 November, with balloting due to take place as this issue went to press.Unite stated that the aim of the day of action will be to show the coalition government and local employers that ordinary people do not want to be taken for granted and do not want to have their pensions cut.A Department of Health spokesperson said that the current pensions system was 'not sustainable, with people living much longer, substantially increasing the cost to the taxpayer'.
