December exports to EU slip

Ukraine's power exports to the European Union plunged 71.9% year-on-year to 97 GWh in December, down from 345 GWh in December 2008 and from 291.3 GWh in November, the Fuel and Energy Ministry said January 22. Within the EU, Ukraine exportis power to Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Romania. It also exports power to Belarus and Moldova. In December, Ukraine exported 12 GWh of power to Hungary, compared with 85.5 GWh in December 2008. Power exports to Slovakia dropped to 84.3 GWh from 258.3 GWh and power exports to Romania fell to 0.6 GWh from 1.2 GWh.
