Interactions between mother and child can be negatively affected by postnatal depression (PND). Untreated PND, it can impact on a child's social, emotional and cognitive development (Murray et al, 2003). Mayberry et al (2007) found that between 17.1% and 23.1% of new mothers reported symptoms of PND.
