The last time I visited the Kharkov Automobile Repair Works No. 126, headed by Alexander Fotchenkov, almost a year ago. The works specialized in capital repairs and modernization of light metal-clad caterpillar vehicles, including the MT-LB, ATG, ATS, and of transport-caterpillar vehicles. In the past decade, it embarked on capital repairs of engineering vehicles (BAT-2, BAT-M, BTM-3) Since 1999, the enterprise has overhauled the heavy-duty multi-axis trucks MAZ-537 and MAZ-543, as well as Ural trucks, KamAZ trucks, city buses, and ChM ZAP 9990/5247 semi-trailers. It also modernized T-150 and T-150-DO tractors. However, the centerpiece of my journey last year was my familiarization with pilot samples of vehicles that could use methane along with more traditional diesel fuel. Despite that pilot gas equipment on the T-150 tractor and KrAZ truck was still subject to testing, Alexander Fotchenkov was firmly convinced of its potential. By that time, the director of the enterprise was aware of what steps were needed to promote the new technology.
