Aker Philadephia Shipyard's Aframax crude carriers Liberty Bay and Eagle Bay ordered by ExxonMobil subsidiary SeaRiver are the largest Jones Act ships ever built, and feature the BalPure ballast water management system by Severn Trent De Nora. Designed to transport crude from Alaska to refineries across the west coast of the US, the vessels feature vast 39,900cu mtr ballast tanks. BalPure is AMS-approved in capacities up to 5,000cu mtr per hour, and the system selected for the 115,000dwt sister is BalPure 3000, able to handle flow rates of up to 3,230cu mtr per hour.
