Lobster enhancement makes headway in Canada

Although American lobster (Homarus americanus) landings are still generally high in Canada, some areas have seen substantial declines over the past fifteen years and are now at all time lows. In response to this situation, fishermen in these areas became interested in lobster enhancement and sea ranching projects. These fishermen are mostly represented by the Maritime Fishermen's Union (MFU) an inshore fishermen association representing approximately 1,500 lobstermen from New Brunswick and parts of Nova Scotia.
