The Karuk Tribe of California, Karuk Community Development Corporation under211u001ecooperative agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has been 211u001eadministering the operations of small scale fish rearing project funded by the 211u001eKlamath Basin Restoration Act. The objective of the overall program is to restore 211u001enatural spawning of late fall run chinook populations through an accelerated 211u001estocking program utilizing artificially spawned and reared out plants derived 211u001efrom endemic brood stock to reseed streams. The two components of the FY 97 211u001eprogram were the projects on the Karuk Tribe Aboriginal Territory, in the 211u001eenvirons of Orleans, California. At Mid Klamath through weir capture at Camp and 211u001eRed Cap Creeks brood stock yield 25,000. The Red Cap Creek Project weir was 211u001ecompletely lost due to flooding. We had major losses at the Camp creek Facility 211u001edue to a water line breakage. A loss of over 13,000 fingerlings occurred. In late 211u001eOctober CWT tagged yearlings at a weight of 9 fish per pound were released into 211u001eCamp Creek.
