Making sense of basic science in knee and shoulder research.

Your editors are clinicians, not basic scientists. As such, and despite being highly motivated, we sometimes struggle to understand the details of basic science submissions and publications. As many of our readers are also clinicians, we suspect that many of you share our struggle. Thus, the goal of this editorial is to suggest an approach that may help us in making sense of the basic science articles in this and future journal issues.
