Turkey to keep ramping up wheat imports, including from Ukraine

Turkey is expected to ramp up wheat imports in the marketing year 2021-22 due to poorer-than projected wheat harvest in the country. According to the USDA's estimates, the overall volume of imported wheat will grow to 10 million tonnes in MY 2021-22, a 24 per cent surge compared to the previous grain season. At the same time, wheat production in the country will drop by 10 per cent to about 16.5 million tonnes, with 21.0 million tonnes required to meet the domestic consumption.
