Apparently, nursery rhymes can help teach the importance of safe play and can offer "invaluable insights into the study of head injuries", according to an article in the Christmas issue of the BMJ. An expert writes that nursery rhymes can teach about occupational hazards to help both young and old reduce their chances of head injuries. The article analysed seven popular nursery rhymes involving or suspected of involving fall related head injuries. The article notes that Humpty Dumpty, who lest we forget "had a great fall", has apparently inspired tests on chicken eggs to study the biomechanics of head injuries in humans "because of the similarities between the two in shape and physical properties."
