When city-boy Ron Glea-son met farm-girl Jennifer Verkaik, he had noidea how drastically his life was about to change. The two wed, and Ron took a sabbatical from his university studies as an English literature major to work a year on the Verkaik family farm. That was 25 years ago. He never returned to school. From a humble start on the lines, Ron worked his way up to become president of Hillside Gardens."I had no agricultural background at all. I came from an urban white-collar family. But I met a beautiful farm girl and decided to give the farm a try. I loved it and still love it," says Ron, proudly adding that sales have increased five-fold over the past quarter century. "I'm proud to carry on my wife's family tradition of farming."
