Crop Trust unveils late blight-resistant potato

German non-profit association Crop Trust has unveiled a late blight (Phytophthora infestans)-resistant potato, CIP-Matilde. The International Potato Center and the Crop Trust developed the technology in Peru via pre- breeding, namely identifying wild potatoes with resistance to disease and incorporating this resistance into cultivated varieties.
