EU mulls update to ais allowed for organic use

The European Commission has invited feedback on a draft update to the lists of products and substances, including pesticides, that are permitted for use in organic crop farming. The feedback period is open until April 23rd. The lists include pesticides, fertilisers, and cleaning and disinfectant products. The update partly reflects the new EU organic production Regulation (2018/848), which is due to be implemented from January 1st 2022. Many of the active ingredients were approved under the previous organic legislation and will be simply transferred across to the lists in the new Regulation. In addition, EU member states have submitted dossiers on certain substances to be authorised for use in organic farming.
