Dahlias are now a truly international flower. They have been cultivated, hybridized, admired and grown to exacting standards for hundreds of years in Europe and throughout the world. The varied and colourful blooms of the garden cultivars have come along way from the original wild species, first observed and domesticated by native Mexican peoples in pre-Hispanic times.
