European Commission pushes for proposal to limit sulfoxaflor use

The European Commission has urged member states to support its proposal to limit the use of the herbicide, sulfoxaflor, to permanent greenhouses. The Commission says that the request has been made to protect pollinators. It has been discussing the matter with member states for a year, “given the potentially negative impact of this substance on bees”, it adds. It submitted a corresponding proposal more than a year ago, citing the scientific findings of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
