KB Woo () (1906-1991) and his family: three generations of optometry.

I first encountered the name KB Woo at the Inaugural KB Woo Memorial Lecture at the Asia Pacific Optometric Congress (APOC) held in Hong Kong in 1993.I had not then realised that he was the father of my former boss, Professor George Woo, Head of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1987-1990. I had worked with Professor Woo for a number of years and collaborated with him on many projects in both education and research without knowing what Mr KB Woo had done for optometry in Hong Kong, through his desire to advance optometry, and that he had inspired his sons and grandson to pursue the same goals. Their work advancing optometry spans over a century.
