Comparison of different spawning agents in artificial out-of-season spawning of Eurasian perch, Perca fluviatilis L.

Eurasian perch, Perca ?uviatilis L., aquaculture has undergone real development during the last decade (Mandiki, Blanchard, Melard, Koskela, Kucharczyk, Fontaine & Kestemont 2004). Out-ofseason spawning creates the possibilities of producing the fry several times during the year. However, the out-of-season spawning of Eurasian perch was characterized by low spawning effectiveness in comparison with season spawning (Migaud, Fontaine, Sulistyo, Kestemont & Gardeur 2002; Z˙arski, Palin′ska, Targon′ska, Bokor, Kotrik, Krejszeff, Kupren, Horvath, Urbanyi & Kucharczyk 2011). In studies concerning out-of-season Eurasian perch spawning, ?sh were kept for several months before spawning under controlled conditions. However, no data have been published concerning out-of-season spawning of perch caught in the wild during winter time. In the present paper, the application of different spawning-inducing agents in out-of-season arti?cial reproduction in wild Eurasian perch collected during wintertime was studied.
