Vietnam: A Potential Giant In Asia For Aquaculture

With the world depending more and more on fish and other aquatic products for food, areas will be investigated to either initiate or increase aquatic production, Vietnam can be a major contributor to this demand. It has been estimated that worldwide approximately one billion people rely on fish as a source of animal protein. In Asia it has been estimated that fish supply almost 30% of the total protein for the populace. Natural resources have been over-exploited including the ocean. We are dependingmore and more on commercial sources for this demand. In addition, one hundred and fifty million people around the world depend on fish for employment. Fish are also one of the most highly traded agricultural commodities with nearly 40% of fish production traded internationally.
