Heathrow: Nothing must distract us from safety

Although the possibility that aircraft might distract motorway drivers grabbed newspaper headlines at the time of release, a suite of Highways England documents casts light on its wider views of Heathrow's plans and give some clues as to what the road and the tunnel will look like. As described in Highways (Aug/Sept 2018), Heathrow Airport Ltd's [HAL) January 2018 consultation set out plans to put the M25 into a tunnel between the current Junction 14a and Junction 15, where the orbital motorway meets the east-west M4. The new runway at the heart of the airport's expansion plans would cross the motorway.
