Cyclists are being encouraged into town and city centres as an alternative to cars - but there are barriers. Almost 500,000 bikes are stolen annually in the UK alone and cycling parking facilities are pretty far down the pecking order when it comes to allocation of resources. However, a solution is at hand. BikeUP (UK), Glasgow-based manufacturer of a wide range of high quality cycle parking products, thinks it may have the answer. Its AD-Rack system combines space efficient parking facilities with advertising space, and according to the company's Martin Head, the response from both public and private sectors has been overwhelming.
