In part I of this three-part paper in the January issue first of all the function and the advantages of the Harmonic Drive gear were described. Part II in the June issue presented special features of this gear unit regarding a higher torque capacity and an expansion of the gear ratio range. In this part III now new developments regarding lightweight designgear, reduced length and highly integrated hollow-shaft servodrives are introduced in detail.
