Making sense of 'Value for Money'

At TRL, giving and adding value is fundamental to our business, enabling our customers to develop efficiencies and derive maximum benefit from their business and operations. In real terms, this translates to TRL delivering effective, evidence based solutions that can drive forward real improvements, saving our customers both time and money and enabling them to get more out of their existing resources. TRL has been involved with achieving value for money from road maintenance for many years. In the 1990s, TRL research led to the development of long-life pavement designs which have significantly extended the life expectancy of flexible pavements at minimal cost. TRL also developed the long-life approach to maintenance assessment which recognised that much of the Highways Agency's (HA) existing network already consisted of long-life pavements.
