As liaison for the Global Affairs Committee, I pay particular attention to representing the interests of the other half of the SEG's members—those that do not live in North America. You might think there is a real role to play here; after all, a cursory look at the SEG might give one the impression that our society is dominated by North America. Fortunately, this is only a half-truth: It is of course a fact that our business office and all our professional staff are in Tulsa. It is also true that most of the volunteers who run our committees today are North Americans. However, I found that all of these people, who together run our society, are well aware of the geographic distribution of our members. Real efforts are consistently made to bring SEG events and membership benefits to members all over the globe.
