Reduced car parking might not reduce car use

A new study by Design for Homes and endorsed by the Institute of Highway Engineers has found that reducing car parking on housing developments is largely ineffective in reducing levels of car use and ownership. Chair of the IHE Development Management Group Chris Saunders said: "This new study is the largest ever undertaken into the issue and the evidence confirms what highway engineers have long suspected. That reducing car parking on housing developments is ineffective in reducing levels of car use and ownership."
