Russian Antiship Missiles

This report examines Russian antiship missiles including ship-, submarine- and air-launched types. The most widely exported Russian antiship missile has been the P-15 (SS-N-2 Styx) and its derivatives but these are no longer in production. Until 1992. the Russians did not manufacture small antiship missiles comparable to the Exocet or the Harpoon. In the early 1990s, Russian missile manufacturers were forced to reorient their priorities and develop weapons more suitable to the export market. At the low-cost end, Kh-35 Uran/SS-N-25 offers a close analog of the Harpoon and Exocet and it has already been exported to Algeria, India and Vietnam.
