Prices expected to reverse their course in August

As of July 20, average market prices for A3 scrap in the European part of Russia and the Ural Federal District were by 4% and 9% higher than in late June respectively.The situation in the markets for finished and semi-finished products will have a defining influence on mills' steel scrap prices in the forecast period. In August, Russian steel mills plan to increase longs quotes by an average of RUB 1,000/t, citing a significant rise in scrap prices in July. However, expecting weaker demand from end users, stockists doubt the announced increase will happen.
