INTRODUCTION AND CONTENT

This quarterly report on primary aluminium provides information of three types: short-term capacity, production and stock developments; price and-cost trends; and medium-term prospects for capacity. A companion report covers capacity and market information for alumina and bauxite. This report is based on information available up to 27 November 2006 and includes IAI - International Aluminium Institute data on production and stocks up to July 2006 The reports are timed to include lAI's quarterly information an both primary aluminium and alumina and therefore appear shortly after 26 February, May, August and November of each year.
