Effect of fenoxycarb on pupae of tobacco caterpillar, Spodoptera litura.

The effects of the juvenile hormone analogue, fenoxycarb (0, 5, 10, 20 and 50 ppm) on the biological development of 0- to 24-, 24- to 48- and 48- to 72-h-old pupae of tobacco caterpillar (S. litura) were determined under laboratory conditions. The pupae were treated with fenoxycarb using the dipping method. The reduction in the mean adult emergence of the pest increased with increasing rates of fenoxycarb. The number of normal adult decreased with increasing rates of fenoxycarb but increased with the age of the pupae. On the other hand, the number of abnormal adults increased with increasing rates of fenoxycarb but decreased with the age of pupa.
