China's HBIS Laoting Steel has started production at new high-performance hot strip mill at the greenfield plant in Laoting, Tangshan city, Hebei province, Metal Expert learnt from SMS group's press release. According to the source, a high-performance hot strip mill is designed to produce 4.1 million tpy of HRC 1.2?25.4 mm thick and up to 1,900 mm wide. The product range includes low-alloy carbon steels, high-strength automotive grades, weather-resistant structural and container steels, pipe grades, boiler and pressure vessel steels, and steels for use in ship and bridge construction.
