CSA efficiency focus

Under the presidency of Grantley Stephenson, the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA) is continuing its focus on increasing the efficiency of the region's port employees."There are massive changes taking place in our industry and unless our people are properly prepared, then [they] will not remain competitive," Stephen-son told IHS Maritime, pointing to the high level of consolidation in the Caribbean and preparations for the expanded Panama Canal. Among various initiatives, the CSA has a programme that allows Caribbean employees to visit another regional terminal, where they are trained and exposed to various operational areas at the port. He noted that such programmes had recently been hosted by MIT in Panama, Cartagena in Colombia, and Barbados.
