The Information Strategy and the Librarian

摘要

In an earlier paper for Educause Review (Hanson 2011), i discussed the concept of an information strategy and its application in a higher education context. The purpose of this article is to reflect upon the role of the library and the librarian in the development and management of such a strategy in any kind of complex organization. i will also discuss how, through such a strategy, the organization can generate greater value from its investment in information resources.What is an information strategy? in general terms, the purpose of an information strategy is to "highlight the extent to which a modern, complex organization depends on information, in all of its guises, and to consider how this strategic asset should bemanaged"(Hanson 2011).
