A study was conducted during the kharif seasons of 1999 and 2000 on a sandy loam soil in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, to evaluate the effect of P levels (0, 30, 60 and 90 kg/ha) with or without phosphorus solubilizing microbes (PSM) on summer moong (V. radiata). Grain and stover yields of moong increased due to the application of P alone and inoculation with PSM. The application of P up to 60 kg/ha significantly increased the grain yield. Inoculation with PSM increased the grain yield when compared with uninoculation. However, the effect was limited with the application of 60 kg P/ha in both grain and stover yields. Both P application and PSM inoculation significantly affected the contents and uptakes of N, P and K in moong.
