Musculoaponeurotic fibromatoses are relatively rare soft tissue neoplasms, which compromise 0.03% of all tumours. Originally described by MacFarlane in 1831, these neoplasms were later termed desmoid tumours by Miiller in 1838 after the Greek word 'desmos' meaning 'a fetter or band'. Arising from fascia or muscle, these tumours are benign with no metastatic potential but can be locally aggressive, compressing and invading surrounding structures. For this reason, early management is essential, with first-line treatment being radical excision of the tumour with free margins.
