South korean semiconductor exports rise

South Korea's exports of semiconductors climbed in February as telecom data centres prepare for the rollout of 5G networks, preliminary data from the country's trade ministry show. The volume of semiconductor exports from the world's largest producer increased by 14.4pc compared with February 2019, the eighth consecutive month of increase. And the value of those exports rose by 9.4pc on the year to $7.4bn. The growth was primarily attributed to strong demand from data centres and an increase in prices for dynamic randomaccess memory (DRAM) chips, after they fell last year.
