UK buys more HGVs in 2019

New registrations of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in the UK rose by 12.6pc in 2019 following two years of decline, as regulatory changes spurred a wave of fleet replacements. The UK registered 48,535 new HGVs in 2019, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), up from 43,099 in 2018. This increase came despite a drop in the fourth quarter, when new registrations fell by 2.2pc on the year to 12,514.
