I think an important issue is the realization that we have to handle ventilation and the latent load separately from the sensible load in the building. That's forcing a change in the way we are going to be designing, installing, and operating our mechanical systems. For example, in the humid South, for generations engineers have tried to have one magic black box to heat, cool, and dehumidify - that's not possible. So, we're going to have separate systems that handle the ventilation and humidity, and these are going to be independent of the systems that provide cooling.
